Sarah Moreau (b. 1995) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto, Ontario. Her artistic practice explores notions of sexuality, gender, nature, and memory from an ecofeminist perspective. Her work raises awareness to feminist and environmental issues, mending the divide between nature and culture. Drawing from past and present experiences, she aims to connect with the viewer on an intimate level, thus evoking emotion, vulnerability, and contemplation. Her current work explores the relationship between humans and the natural world, addressing the effects of a patriarchal culture through a combination of performance, yarn, and the art of crocheting. Using femininely charged materials in a contemporary setting allows her to connect to women’s history while challenging traditional notions of art and gender. Her practice varies from soft sculpture to performances using her body as a means of feminist expression as she lets the subject matter inform the medium.
